Most fashionistas know that you are what you wear. Your everyday style says something about you and your fashion sensibilities. But what if we applied this logic to tea? When I think of tea in fashion terms I focus on the top 5 tea types - Black, Green, Herbal, Oolong and White.
If your style is sophisticated, elegant and tailored I would label you a true CLASSIC like black tea. Hot or cold, flavored or with a touch of lemon, a strong black tea maintains its integrity and is typically preferred by most. If you have a taste for all things modern, bold and contemporary perhaps you are URBAN MOD with a love of green tea. While the health benefits of green tea are a definite plus, you are drawn to it for its numerous varieties and the endless list of tea blends that highlight this tea’s distinctive taste. And with all of the new fashion trends on the market today, if your style remains RETRO - vintage, a little exaggerated but in keeping with the look of the moment your tea of choice might be herbal (or tisane). Herbal tea dates back to Ancient Egypt and Ancient China and continues to reinvent itself.
But what if your fashion sense is outside of the norm, innovative and inventive – “AVANT GARDE” if you will. You might be a tea connoisseur who enjoys oolong tea, full bodied in flavor with an aroma ranging from green and floral to dark and roasted with many notes in between. Lastly, if you are a present-day MINIMALIST you may gravitate towards the subtlety of white tea. Due to its natural sweetness and subtle texture contrasts white tea is effortless in style and makes the case for an unconventional approach to tea.
